Certifications & Industry Standards

Astra Mechanical Seals designs and manufactures replacement seals to widely referenced international dimensional and performance standards. This page is maintained by Astra Mechanical Seals to describe our design references and quality practices. It is not an independent certification.

    Design Conformance to Industry Standards

Our product designs reference the following international standards. These references describe the technical specifications our seals are engineered against; they are not a claim of third-party certification.

    ISO 3069

Centrifugal pumps — Dimensions of cavities for mechanical seals and for soft packing

Shaft cavity and seal chamber envelope for our standard cartridge and component seals.

    DIN 24960

Mechanical seals — Principal dimensions, designation and material codes

Face and seat dimensions, sleeve interfaces, and material coding across the AS product range.

    GB/T 6556

Mechanical seals for centrifugal pumps — Chinese national standard

Additional dimensional interchangeability for pumps built to GB shaft envelopes.

    API 682

Pumps — Shaft sealing systems for centrifugal and rotary pumps

Design principles for our engineered cartridge seals for refinery and petrochemical service, including qualification testing philosophy and flush plan support.

    API 692

Dry gas sealing systems for axial, centrifugal, rotary screw compressors and expanders

Tandem, double-opposed, and face-ring dry gas seal arrangements for compressors.

ASME BPVC Section VIII, Div. 1

    Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code

    Reference standard for our seal support system vessels (API Plan 52 / 53A / 53B / 53C).

    Quality & Inspection Practices

The following practices are applied to production units before dispatch. Documentation packages (drawings, MTRs, test records) can be provided on request at the time of order.

    Dimensional inspection

Every finished seal is dimensionally verified against the released drawing before shipment, with CMM inspection on critical face flatness, parallelism, and shaft-fit tolerances.

    Material traceability

Face materials, springs, and metal components are lot-traced. Material test reports (MTRs / EN 10204 3.1 mill certs) are available on request at time of order.

    Hydrostatic & seat testing

Cartridge assemblies are hydrostatically bench-tested to design pressure. Support system vessels are pressure-tested per the applicable code before dispatch.

    Face flatness verification

Lapped seal faces are checked with optical flat and monochromatic light for flatness within one helium light band before assembly.

    Reference Materials

Standard material grades used across the Astra product range. Custom grades are available for engineered orders.
